Wycombe Wanderers SET – 24 Hrs Three Peak Challenge

02 Aug Wycombe Wanderers SET – 24 Hrs Three Peak Challenge

Training is well and truly under way for the Sports Participation team embarking on the 24 hour Three Peak Challenge in September, raising funds for Wycombe Wanderers SET.  Originally planned for June, team members Kirk Williams, Dan Moss, Ashley Lamb and Jason Carr will be taking on the mental and physical challenge during the weekend of 3rd & 4th September. With only five weeks to go they decided to step up their training to another level by heading off to Wales on Saturday 30th July with the aim of climbing Mount Snowdon twice back to back. What made this ever more challenging was Billy Ready’s leaving party being organised the evening before!  This meant that, between them, only 4 hours of sleep was had (and all by Kirk!) before the 6am leave from Adams Park on the Saturday morning!

We’re pleased to confirm that, despite with the lack of sleep, poor visibility for the majority of the trek and constant rain, the mission was completed. The team completed TWO(!) successful trips up and down Mount Snowdon within 10 hours. Round one ascending the Pyg Track and descending the Llanberis Path followed by round two; another hike up the Pyg Track and down the Miners Track to finish.

As we’re sure you can imagine, both Ashley & Jason were sleeping like babies before we hit the M54 on the way back!

418 Miles Driven

27 KM Walked

1800 Metres climbed

9 Hrs Walking

Most importantly – a lot of confidence that they are in a strong place to be able to complete the challenge!

A HUGE thank you to all of you who have sponsored the team to date by making a donation via the Wycombe Wanderers SET participant booking pages, with over £2000 currently being raised.
