Wycombe Wanderers EDA – La Chti’s Cup – 2019

09 Oct Wycombe Wanderers EDA – La Chti’s Cup – 2019

We would like to make everyone aware of a great experience some of our Elite & Development Academy players were recently involved in; an Elite Development Academy International Tour.
Wycombe Wanderers EDA, which provides professional coaching to approximately 500 players aged 6-15 from across the county each week at invite only sessions, embarked on their third visit to France in early September. The trip involved taking our U12’s & U13’s Elite Squad’s away for two days where they participated in a warm up session before competing in the Chti’s Cup, an academy festival hosted by FC Boulogne.
The players were awoken early Sunday morning and headed into the tournament in buyount mood following a positive session the day before. Each age group had 12 teams within each festival with each club playing 5 group stage fixtures. Following each clubs 5 fixtures the top four teams on points progressed straight through to the quarter final stages, and the remaining 8 teams played in a playoff to find the final four teams that would also progress to the quarter finals ;
U12s group Stage Fixtures;
Wycombe Wanderers EDA Vs Montrouge – WON 2-1
Wycombe Wanderers EDA Vs Armentiere’s – DREW 1-1
Wycombe Wanderers EDA Vs Luton Town – LOST 1-0
Wycombe Wanderers EDA Vs Paris St Germain – WON 2-0
Wycombe Wanderers EDA Vs Stade De Reims – DREW 0-0
U13s group Stage Fixtures;
Wycombe Wanderers EDA Vs Camon – LOST 1-0
Wycombe Wanderers EDA Vs Colougne – LOST 1-0
Wycombe Wanderers EDA Vs Amians – WON 3-0
Wycombe Wanderers EDA Vs Valencians – WON 2-0
Wycombe Wanderers EDA Vs USBLO – WON 2-1
We were very pleased with the squads efforts within the mornings group stage’s which saw our U12s squad finish within the top of four of their division and qualify straight to the quarter finals. The U13s finsihed fifth which would mean a potential easier route into the quarter finals.
U12s Quarter Final;
Wycombe Wanderers EDA Vs Racing Club De Lens – LOST 1-0
U13s Play-off to reach the Quarter Final;
Wycombe Wanderers EDA Vs Dunkerque – WON 4-0
U13s Quarter Final;
Wycombe Wanderers EDA Vs Focus Football – WON 1-0
U13s Semi Final;
Wycombe Wanderers EDA Vs Stade De Reims – WON on a penalty shootout
U13s Final;
Wycombe Wanderers EDA Vs Racing Club De Lens – LOST on penalty shootout
Despite the disappointment at not lifting a winners trophy at the end of the event, the players had definitely proved themselves more than capable of competing against some of the top academy sides in France, and were quite rightly proud of their achievements.
Following a very late return to Adams Park on Monday morning, EDA Manager Kirk Williams who led the trip along with other WWSET staff, had this to say:
“Firstly I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ousman Dandi for organising an outstanding trip that was thoroughly enjoyed by the staff & players involved and U.S Boulogne and Jean Paul Anquez for putting on a very well organised and enjoyable tournamnet. Our squads attitude, behaviour and work ethic both on and off the pitch was tremendous, and they were a credit to the football club. Looking ahead to next summer the plan is to hopefully take the same age groups to France again to compete in the Chti’s Cup, and provide as many of our EDA players as possible with a similar experence”.
Im sure you will all join me in saying a massive well done to all involved.
