Wycombe Walking Footballers walk their way to success!

09 Apr Wycombe Walking Footballers walk their way to success!

Wycombe Walking Football had their second league Sunday of the year…

The A team played 5 matches in the B League and had another successful day of two (1-0) wins and three (0-0) draws. Even better, there were no goals conceded which should keep the team top of the le.ue..

The B team played 5 matches in the C league and won 2 (1-0) drew 2 (0-0) and unluckily lost (0-1) to a fluke own goal by XXXX strict orders not to mention the player’s name!!..

It was the first wet Sunday of league football and it is 10 minutes of intense, full concentration football, then possibly a 25 minute wait before another intense 10 minutes.. but in between matches the camaraderie between opposing teams is great, the players are friendly and the whole experience is a joy to be involved.

Malcolm fro the walking football squad had this to say about the weekend –

“What can I say about Walking football,  I bet people think, you don’t raise a sweat… don’t believe its hard not to walk!!! incredibly fast, the Waling Football game is  skilful, intense, competitive, joyful and brings a smile to your face.. from 3 years ago when I started, the standard of football has risen by leaps and bounds and to see so many over 50 year olds enjoying kicking that bag of air encased in leather around is wonderful.. but for me the best parts are the banter, the laughs, the friendliness and the joy of playing.. Long may it continue..
