08 Apr WWSET Welcome New Head of Health
WWSET are pleased to welcome Claire Hawes to the organisation as our new Head of Health.
Claire’s role is to maximise WWSET’s physical and mental health-related offerings, and to develop, manage and deliver numerous activity programmes and partnerships, all of which will aim to improve the health of our local community.
Claire, who holds a Master’s Degree in Sport Development Management, joins us from Active Luton where her role was Health Specialist Manager (Community Outreach & Engagement), which saw her oversee a number of projects including:
· Female fitness sessions
· Physical activity for families with children under 5
· Youth engagement for those at risk of offending/reoffending
· Health walks and beginners running scheme
· Disability participation project
Upon joining WWSET Claire had this to say about her new appointment:
“I am really excited to be offered the opportunity to lead WWSET’s health department and build upon the excellent work that’s already being delivered. The on-going pandemic has resulted in reduced levels of physical activity being undertaken by people of all ages, as well as a steep increase in the number of people experiencing poor mental health, which means community health projects are needed now more than ever and I’m looking forward to playing a small part in making High Wycombe healthier and happier moving forwards.“
Head of WWSET Paul Foley added:
“We’re over the moon to have Claire join the WWSET team as Head of Health. The recruitment process was very competitive and there were some excellent candidates who applied but Claire was definitely our number one choice after impressing the panel with not only her relevant knowledge and experience, but also her passion for using sport as a community development tool which came across in abundance during her interviews.”
Good luck in your new post Claire and all at WWSET and WWFC look forward to working with you!
NB: Claire is taking over the Head of Health role from Sam White who originally joined WWSET in 2017. Sam achieved some fantastic results throughout her time with us and was a valued and popular member of the team – as such we’d like to place on record our sincere thanks to Sam and wish her all the best with her future endeavours.
