23 Mar The EFL Walking Football Cup
WWSET were proud to host the local stage of the EFL Trust National Walking Football Tournament on Tuesday 14th March 2017 at the newly built 3G Astroturf pitch at Amersham & Wycombe College, Flackwell Heath.
The 6-a-side tournament involves each EFL clubs community trust run a local stage competition to find a team to go on and represent the club in the regional round. The top two teams in each region (North & South) qualify for the National Finals which last year were played at The FA’s prestigious St George’s Park.
WWSET’s tournament was played in a fun, enjoyable and friendly environment but also in a competitive manner. Each team played each other twice, with the top 2 facing off in a final to be crowned WWSET’s Walking Football Tournament winners
The final was played between WWSET’s very own walking football team and Bracknell Town FC Walking Footballers, with Bracknell Town FC coming out as eventual winners 3-0.
Following the trophy presentation all players from every team were given a ticket to watch the WWFC home game against Plymouth FC being played at Adams Park on the same evening.
For those who aren’t aware Walking Football, as the name suggests, is a slow-paced version of the beautiful game which is aimed specifically at the over 50’s,The game is a great way for the older generation to continue to enjoy sport, stay active and keep fit.
