Success story for the Elite Development Academy

22 Apr Success story for the Elite Development Academy

The Wycombe Wanderers Elite Development Academy U8’s were invited to play a group of fixtures against Reading F.C (Category 1 Academy) in their Academy Dome. The EDA took 6 players to play in five 15 minute games.

The U8’s showed fantastic technicality ability, team ethic in terms of ball sharing and most importantly a strong spirit and determination. In previous seasons this would have been our downfall often being bullied physically and losing emotional control if the opposition were too physical or played with no sportsmanship. But since the change in our syllabus within the foundation phase and introducing more body combat and 1v1s into our practices alongside our ball manipulation sessions we are producing top players who are now more street wise with a real winning mentality who enjoy working tremendously hard both with and without the ball.

Kirk Williams – EDA Manager said

“It was truly a humbling experience to see these boys showcase their qualities at one of the leading academies in the country. With the majority of this group starting their football journey with Wycombe Wanderers EDA at the age of 5. This is only possible because of the great work the team put in to each and every session and the results are there for all to be seen”.
