31 May Premier League Girls

The Premier League Girls project has progressed drastically throughout the past few months. WWSET have been delivering sessions with schools, colleges, local weight watchers sessions, as well as walking football and soccer circuits fitness sessions for over the age of 16. We have been working in the Slough, Marlow, Beaconsfield and High Wycombe areas in order to try and captivate a wide audience.

We have been working in the Slough, Marlow, Beaconsfield and High Wycombe areas in order to try and captivate a wide audience.

Throughout the project WWSET has managed to engage 179 women and girls throughout the past six months, 64 of which are over the age of 14 years. 56 of those participants have participated in more than 5 sessions over a four month period whilst, 5 have participated in 10 sessions over those four months.

WWSET have been working with Slough & Eton School, Lynch Hill Enterprise Academy and Eden girls school within Slough in order to gain an impact within a multicultural area.

Alfriston Sports College is another school which WWSET have been working with in order to deliver sessions of girls with Special Educational Needs, these girls also recently headed over to the Madjeski for a tournament and managed to finish 3rd and 7th out of 11 teams.

Within the Farnham Common area, WWSET has been working with a local weight watchers group in order to help increase mobility with the aid of using a football. Helping ladies with mobility restraints to feel that little bit more at ease. All members of the group have noticed a difference in their recovery rates and intensity since beginning the sessions a few months ago.

As from the 6th June WWSET will be transforming the walking football sessions at the Redgrave centre, Marlow to a women’s only turn up and play session. These sessions are completely free and offer an option of skills for the first half an hour or matches for the remaining hour. Sessions run from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm and are open to all women, you don’t have to be part of a team to join in with the matches, and there is absolutely no commitment to attend every week, allowing you to come when it is best suited to you.

Soccer circuits is another session which is held at the Redgrave in Marlow, these sessions are fitness session with the use of a Football, it aims to use regular skills in order to build up fitness and you don’t have to be a pro to take part. These sessions are also free and run from 10:00 am – 11:00 am every Saturday.

On the 28th June WWSET will be running a girls glow in the dark football tournament for the Slough schools, also welcoming a school in partnership with Reading FC. This will add a fun take and a new experience for the girls.
