18 Jul Fit and Fed Set to expand!
We are pleased to announce that as our Fit and Fed Project comes up to it’s 1st Birthday we have been granted funding to develop and expand our service.
Fit and Fed is targeted at families who “feel the pinch” within the holidays. Our sessions provide free cooking tutorials, free sporting activities, free arts and crafts and free meals for the whole family. Ensuring that children go back to school having had access to healthy food and exercise, and families have the chance to see how to cook affordable and healthy meals as well as activities they can mirror at home.
Not only are we delivering in the holidays, as of September we will also be launching our Fit and Fed after school club mirroring the same principles as our holiday sessions, continuing our support and developing our volunteers to gain experience, transferable skills and most importantly confidence to develop themselves.
We have been fortunate to surround ourselves with two professional partners; Empower to Cook CIC and Khepera CIC who provide our cooking tutorials whilst WWSET do what we do best, using the power of sport to unite communities and get everyone active.
We have also been incredibly fortunate to have received funding from Ella’s Kitchen (£10k), Marsh and Micklefield Big Local (£10k), Red Kite Housing Association (£3k), Paradigm foundation (£5k) and Wycombe District Council (£1.5k), however we still have a way to go to ensure we can deliver our full service for the next year and beyond. Focusing on local funding to provide a local impact for our community, we are incredibly grateful to our funders who without, we wouldn’t be able to provide this free and valuable service!
The impact Fit and Fed has had in its first year is huge and something we are passionate about developing over the next year and beyond!
