Fit and Fed is for families in Wycombe who are “feeling the pinch”. With your support we can help each other and make a big difference – helping children and parents keep active, cook and try healthy and tasty meals and spend some valuable time together.

Wycombe Wanderers Sports & Education Trust will be opening the doors at Castlefield Community Centre and Beechview Academy to welcome families with children of all ages for a combination of cooking, active games and arts, and crafts. There are also opportunities for older

teenagers and adults to pick up skills, volunteer and get some paid experience helping us shape and deliver the programme.

We know this can really help families across Wycombe. Why? Because we’ve been running some pilot sessions and parents and children have told us:

“makes a big difference, we don’t have a lot of money, to be able to afford to do lots of things and this broke up the days giving them something different to do which they all loved.”

“big difference gives us something to do get us out of the house, encourages us to be active”

“gave her a good activity to be involved in, learned about different vegetables and met her friends. Was a fun day out”

“good social experience and makes holidays full of fun”

“a lot, being in a different environment in the holidays is great for my son”

“more chance to socialise and go out and play with others or experience something like sports they haven’t done before”

Empower to Cook and Khepera Community Interest Companies will be empowering children and parents/guardians to prepare and cook healthy meals. They will encourage families to make and try healthy foods and increase confidence in the kitchen for both child and adult. The food the

children make each day will be shared with everyone to have a free sit down lunch all together.

Wycombe Wanderers Sports and Educational Trust (WWSET) will be keeping everyone active, offering a range of activities that everyone can easily join in and giving parents the confidence and knowledge of free/ easy/ adaptable activities they can do at home. We will provide incentives for our most regularly active families and involve the children in the development of the project so they feel their voices are heard.

This 3 year project has the power to help families, enabling us all to eat affordable, healthy food, stay active and build a stronger community. Older teenagers and adults can learn how to run cooking and active sessions – a stepping stone towards employment or further training. Please help us, help the community in Wycombe.
