05 Dec Bodger stars at the Marlow Santa Fun Run

It was no ordinary Sunday for Bodger this week, as he joined thousands of other runners all dressed up for the occasion in red Santa robes and white beards, who all took to the streets in Marlow to take part in the Marlow Rotary Club’s annual Santa Fun Run.

After last year’s 5k became a ‘virtual’ run due to the ongoing coronavirus lockdown, the mood was euphoric as the runners got together to share in the Christmas spirit and raise money for great causes.

Wycombe Wanderers Sports & Education Trust (WWSET) sent Bodger down to the run to raise crucial funds for the charity. There’s still time to donate to the cause: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/wwset?utm_term=pqrK5Bvg5 – we’d like to take a moment to thank everyone who has donated to the cause already, and a thank you in advance to anyone who clicks the link to donate.

Bodger warmed up for the event in Higginson Park with the other Santa’s and was thrilled to see so many Chairboys fans at the event. Bodger spent the morning posing for selfies and giving out high fives and fist bumps to anyone that wanted one.

He even ran into ‘Bob’ and “Heli’, the mascots from the Thames Valley Air Ambulance for a good catch up about all the latest developments in the mascoting world!

John Prout, chairman of Santa Fun Run 2021, spoke to the Bucks Free Press ahead of the event and said: “A great many people and organisations enable the fun run to take place. The people are all volunteers – far too many to mention, but you know who you are.”

“Planning starts in March with a committee of rotarians planning for the next event, sourcing and purchasing suits and medals, obtaining all the on the ground paraphernalia, seeking permissions, licences, sponsors, marshals and helpers.”

He continued, “A big thank you to the many people and organisations who make the run possible. “Without you, the runners and your supporters, it would all be a pointless exercise, so a huge thank you for entering.”
