11 Oct INTER MOSQUE LEAGUE MATCH DAY 2
INTER MOSQUE LEAGUE
Match Day 2
Match Day 2 saw Chesham take on Aylesbury first up and it was a great battle and tussle between the 2 teams. Both had periods in the game where they were on top but the experience and maturity of Chesham proved the difference, plus the finishing as they came out on top 8 – 5. Chesham goals were shared between 3 players and 6 of the 8 were shared by the Butt brothers, Safeer and Toqeer, with the younger Toqeer scoring 4 on the night. The other two were scored by the Chesham’s captain and playmaker, Affi Nawaz. For Aylesbury, playing their first game, they showed some great moments in the game, both individual but most importantly, moments of good team play and scored a wonderful counter-attacking goal in the process of losing the match.
AYLESBURY 5 v 8 CHESHAM
Temur Saleem * 2 Safeer Butt * 2
Nasar Muhammed * 2 Affi * 2
Aqeel * 1 Toqeer * 4
The second match saw Aylesbury take on WISE B and two games in a row on the same night took its toll on the young, inexperienced team from Aylesbury as they valiantly went down 10-5. They looked very tired by end of the second half and WISE B ran out comfortable winners, with their prolific forward Rabah scoring 7 Goals to go top of the scoring charts in the league. This game took its toll on the Aylesbury lads and they bravely fought till the end but WISE proved very clinical and ruthless in their pursuit of the 3 points. WISE, led by their manager Khalid Machmoum, look like they will be a strong team with the squad of players they have and will be a force going forward as the league progresses with them growing stronger in that process.

The Inter Mosque League will run up till December, with League winners being presented with trophies at a presentation evening at Adams Park for all the participants, teams and partners.
The Inter Mosque League was initiated after our successful Ramadaan Tournament held here at Adams Park in May. The League is to bring local mosques in High Wycombe and surrounding areas together through the power of football, so as to increase relationships with the football club, build bridges, increase sports participation, give opportunities, build partnerships and for local communities to socialize. We are hoping going forward to build the league up with more teams taking part and registering from within High Wycombe but also surrounding towns.
