Premier League Girls Football programme

During the 2016/17 season, WWSET is one of almost 90 professional football clubs delivering the Premier League Girls Football programme.

The programme, which is also delivered in partnership with The Football Association (“The FA”), aims to provide more opportunities for females aged 11+ to participate in football, and more specifically has two primary objectives:

  • To increase the number of women and girls playing football on a regular basis.
  • To increase the opportunities for women and girls to develop skills and confidence and progress within the football pathway as a player, coach or official.

As part of our Premier League Girls Football Programme WWSET are going to be delivering a varied array of FREE sessions that will look to engage with:

  • adult women who have either never, or are no longer, playing football;
  • young females from Black & Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds;
  • young females who suffer from various physical and mental disabilities;
  • local girls whose schools don’t offer football as an easily accessible activity;
  • local ladies who have a desire to get and/or stay fit.

All of the above activity seeks to break down traditional participation barriers and all sessions are centered around providing a fun, safe and relaxed environment for all participants involved.

Furthermore, many of the sessions will be delivered using football in a non-traditional format, with sessions such as “walking football, “soccer circuits”, “futsal” and “football rounder’s” all being offered.

All delivery is led by WWSET’s fully qualified professional Female Football Officer Clare Bassett, so whatever your motivation for getting involved, (make new friends, health & fitness, love of the game etc) there are opportunities for you!
