Wycombe Wanderers Football Club has an excellent reputation for developing young football players and preparing them for careers in the professional game.
In recent years several Wycombe Wanderers youth team players have graduated to play at Premiership and Championship level – Matt Phillips (QPR), Jordon Ibe (Liverpool), Mike Williamson (Newcastle), Roger Johnson (West Ham United), Kadeem Harris (Cardiff City), Charles Dunne (Blackpool), Matt Ingram(QPR) and Russell Martin (Norwich City) to name a few.
The main aim of the Elite Centre has always been to minimise the difference in standards between the strongest grassroots players and the level required to be signed by a professional clubs academy.
The WWSET Elite Centre runs squads in the U7s – U16s age groups and participants receive four hours of professional coaching each week.
Further to the training programme, and in order to maximise the participant’s development, players also take part in a comprehensive games program during school holidays against other professional football clubs such as Arsenal, Reading and Brentford amongst others. Over the years the WWSET Elite Centre has developed a fantastic reputation for producing young talented footballers through the quality of our coaching sessions which run in accordance with our football philosophy. This philosophy is based around the encouragement of technical grooving through the repetition of challenging and focused practice, as well as the creation of an environment that encourages freedom to express individuality without fear of failure. We are extremely proud of the fact that in excess of 60 players have graduated from our Elite Centre to professional club academy’s including Chelsea, Arsenal, Reading and Tottenham Hotspur, at various age groups, and are hopefully well on their way to future careers playing at the highest level.
