In partnership with Bucks Youth Offending Service, we delivered a pilot program to young people who had offended named – Kicking On – here at Adams Park. The program focused on getting the young people ready for employability by working on their self-confidence, self-esteem and the “soft skills” that employers look for when employing an individual.
The delivery of the program was over 2 weeks of Easter, with 2 different cohorts that engaged with a total of 10 young people aged between 13-18 years old. It was a hugely successful program in regards to the aims and objectives that WWSET wanted to achieve and our Social Inclusion Manager, Aqeel Akram, who led the program was impressed with the ability, skills and talent of the young people. The young people showed they wanted an opportunity, they wanted to progress and that they had the skills that an employer would look for when employing someone.
The feedback received from the young people was also very positive and highlighted the impact the program had on their thinking and desires going forward.
