Kicking On 2019

The Kicking-On Project, which is completely free for participants to attend, focuses on positive engagement during school holiday periods with young people under the age of 18 living in High Wycombe, and particularly those from the Totteridge and Micklefield areas.

Being safe at school and having a stable home life is the best form of protection for children as they grow up – but we know that those who are the most vulnerable, are the most at risk of exploitation of those who want to take advantage of them. Often this fact is amplified during holiday periods when young people are not engaged at school, giving more opportunity for others to negatively influence them.

The Kicking-On project will specifically seek to engage young people who:

  • May have previously committed low level disorder and anti-social behaviour and are at risk of continuing to do so;
  • May already be involved in, or at risk of being drawn into, low level gang activity;
  • May be at risk of being recruited into more serious criminal activity;
  • May have been excluded from school and education, at risk of exclusion, or not in employment;
  • May have been referred to Early Help or Youth Offending Services.

Both WWSET and the Kicking-On project partner Buckinghamshire Youth Offending Service are united in our desire to reduce local instances of young vulnerable children being led down a dangerous path.

Using a collaborative approach to working, the Kicking-On project will help children, families and our local community to be safer by assisting the participants to overcome some of the challenges they face, ultimately allowing them to flourish.
